With over 30 years of experience in historic masonry restoration, Alan Pettingale is a trusted consultant dedicated to preserving the integrity and beauty of historic structures. His expertise spans a wide range of restoration techniques, ensuring that each project is handled with the utmost care and precision. Alan’s passion for historic preservation is evident in his meticulous approach and commitment to quality.

He grew up in Kingston-upon-Hull on the east cost of England. After seven years in the British military and traveling the world, always having liked historic buildings, he looked for an outdoor job and started working in historic masonry. He traveled to the US on vacation to give a talk to the Corps of Engineers at Ft. Knox in Kentucky, and realized that America was the place for him.

He now has overthirty years of professional experience in masonry repair systems,

* He implements a wide range of remedial strategies for masonry stabilization on historic buildings
* He consults with architects and engineers on the application of masonry restoration for schools, churches, colleges, historical, residential and commercial buildings in the United States and England.
* He is a well-known speaker and presenter.
* He has co-authored and presented papers on cavity wall tie corrosion investigation and lateral restraint anchors.
* He has created a 6.5 hour continuing education Historic Masonry Workshop available at The Masonry Society’s site.
* He serves on the Existing Masonry Committee of The Masonry Society.
* He is a Mentor with The Masonry Society
